The New York Yankees get one back after last night the Cubbies ran Japan's Masahiro Tanaka off the Bump to get a 6-1 "W". In Extras today the Yanks get a 4-2 "W" in 13 as the Cubs ruin another good outing by former ND Irish Star WR Jeff Smardzija.

Samardzija left after seven innings of scoreless Hardball allowing just four hits and striking out three. He was up 2-0 after the Cubs added to their 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 7th on a Suicide Squeeze by Emilio Bonafacio scoring the Cubs Ryan Kalish to make it 2-0 Cubbies. The Yankees then spoil a potential Smardzija "W" with a throwing error by Darwin Barney in the 9th as on run had already scored scoring another to tie the game at 2-2 in the top half of the 9th.

The Bombers win in the 13th on a Wild Pitch by Cubs Reliever Jose Veras and a run-scoring single by John Ryan Murphy to go up 4-2 as Yanks Captain Save-A-Game David Robertson closes the door on the North Siders in the 13th. Junior Lake led the Cubbies going 3 for 6 at the dish. Yankees leave Wrigley at 24-21 while the Cubbies embark on an extended Motel Swing West at a dismal Cubs-Like 16-28.

Note: the Yankees Captain #2 making his final appearance in Wrigley goes 1 for 7 after going 2 for 4 last night in a 6-1 Yankees "L"!
