The Pittsburgh Pirates are starting to gain some traction as they slowly try to get back into the NL Central Top-Heavy Race. The Washington Nationals find themselves in 3rd place in the NL East and starting to tread water a little getting back into the race of all five Teams being five games back or closer.
The Pirates grab their 2nd straight vs the Nats as they eat Washington 3-1 last night. The Hero tonight was 2013 Bucs Star and Hot Corner Pedro "El Toro" Alvarez who hit a Two-Run Shot in the 4th with the Bucs already having a crooked two o the board from the 2nd. That Bomb was off Nats Starter Jordan Zimmerman who went six giving up four runs on seven hits.
Bucs Starter Charlie Morton gets the "W" as the Nats managed to get just a run on five hits off Morton. He went 5 2/3 innings allowing five hits and a run while striking out and giving up four free passes. The Nats did get two runs off Bucs Middle Man Justin Wilson on three hits as he went 1 11/3 innings. Nats CF and Lead-Off man Denard Span led the Nats with 2 hits going 2 for 5.
Bucs Captain Save-A-Game Jason Grilli notched his 5th save of 2014 as he is starting to regain that form from 2013. Bucs move to 21-26 and the Nats fall to that .vaunted .500 mark at 24-24.
