The Chicago Blackhawks squandered a few gold opportunities early and still led 1-0 after the First Period and 2-1 after the Second Period. That Kings Winger Justin Williams first Kings Goal to make it 2-1 Hawks woke up the Monarchs in a big way heading into the 3rd and last frame.
The L.A. Kings erupted in the 3rd at the Madhouse and no one saw it coming Indian Head Nation, NHL Heads, Kings Nation, or even the Bluedude. Just like that the Kings put a Crooked 5 up in the 3rd frame and three of the five goals were by Kings Jeff Carter as was was via the Empty Net (EN) Variety. Kings 5-Star Defenseman Drew Doughty also scored and that was huge for his psyche it seemed. The Hawks lackadaisical play in the 2nd frame and into the 3rd led them to the Kings doing major damage and now we head back to Staples Ice Games Set-Up all knotted up at 1-1.
Hawks Corey Crawford came in leading Net Minders in the Playoffs in GAA 1.93 and Save Percentage at .933 and that took a serious hit on Hump Day at the Madhouse. Kings Net Minder Jonathan Quick saved 23 of 25 shots as he settled in nicely late in the 2nd and all of the 3rd.
The Indian Head loses their first game of the "Fight 4 Lord Stanley" at the Madhouse as they now need to regroup as the Monarchs take away Home Ice. The Kings had 4 of the 6 1st frame Penalties only to get just two more penalties after wards. The Hawks 1st two penalties in the 3rd resulted into Kings Power Plays Goals...go figure!
