Before the Race to Lord Stanley's Cup started both the Kings and Blackhawks were on the outside looking in. The Blue Notes, Mighty Ducks, and Team Teal of San Jose Pro Hockey were all favs to get to the Cup before both the Kings and Blackhawks. Now we fast forward to the Western Finals and all those Favs are out with the real Contenders to the Throne like the Energizer Bunny...still going! The Western Finals Preview sponsored by "Frozen Talk 1901 West Madison for the Indian Head Nation.

Western Conference Finals 2K14

KINGS how they got here:

The Monarchs beat both the #1 Ducks and #2 Sharks to get to the Western Finals by the count of 4-3 in each series. The Kings have used all  9 Lives thus far now we see if they have any more left. They have been led by Slovenia's Anze Kopitar (19 pts NHL Playoff Leader), Marian Gaborik (9 Goals NHL Playoff Leader), and Net Minder Jonathan Quick (8-6 W-L 2.72 GAA .914 Save %). Kopitar has been dominant and he also dominated the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics for Slovenia  and that has carried over right into the 2nd half of the NHL Regular Season. The Kings have had their lulls though as in the previous two series they have hit rough patches only to bounce back when they needed to. Justin Williams, Dustin Brown, and Drew Doughty have been superb as well and this is a rematch of the 2013 Western Finals and for the Monarchs hopefully with a different outcome.

HAWKS how they got here:

The Blackhawks Trek to a possible Back to Back Cup took a hit right off the bat falling down 0-2 to the St. Louis Blues. Only to win the next four straight and chase the Notes and Net Minder Ryan Miller right into the Mississippi. The Hawks then faced a feisty Minnesota Wild Bunch as they go Grind Mode 99.9% of the time and the Hawks were up 2-0 only to see the Wild tie it 2-2 and the Hawks win the next two games. The constants for the Indian Head of course has been Captain Serious Jonathan Toews (10 pts 6th in NHL Playoffs) and the "Bison City Mullet" 88 Patrick Kane (10 pts  6th in NHL Playoffs) . Then you back that Hawks Balances Attack with Net Minder "Craw-Dad" Corey Crawford (8-4 W-L 1.97 GAA .931 Save %) the Hawks have been rolling and playing like they ant another Grant Park Celebration. Crawford's GAA and Save Percentage is Tops in the Playoffs and that bodes well going up against Mr. Quick who many say is the best in Ice Games as we go to press. Marian Hossa and Bryan Bickell along with Michal Handzus have been playing well and of the Hawks do with the Hawks do the only thing playing in L.A. will be the Dodgers!
