Nathan Eovaldi moves to a sparkling 13-2 but he gets the help needed in late to also get the Yankees to sweep the visiting Minnesota Twins. The Twinkies in the AL Wild Card Race needed this one to avoid the sweep but more importantly to get to the .500 mark and failed to do so.

The Bombers opened  the scoring in the bottom half of the 4th on a  Greg Bird two-run HR for a 2-0 Yanks lead. In the 6th the Twinkies score a crooked three on two RBI single as Eovaldi was cruising with a shutout until that unexpected turbulence.

In that same frame with Eovaldi on the hook for the "L" it was that man again Bird taking Twinkies starter Ervin Santana deep again for a two-run bomb for a 4-3 lead in which the Yanks Pen would nail down. Santana takes the "L" giving up four runs in 7 2.3 frames allowing all four runs and the two Big Flies!

Eovaldi goes seven giving up just four hits and three runs as he played the "Redeem Team" coming back to finish the 7th after the Bird Man bailed him out in the 6th. The Yanks move to 67-52 while the Twinkies fall to 59-61. Bombers lead the 'Jays by a 1/2 game in the AL East.
