The San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals battled it out for three straight nights as the Redbirds prevail late in the rubber game by the score of 4-3. Both starters Matt Cain (SF) and Jaime Garcia (STL) pitched well as Cain gets his best start since coming back.

The Redbirds kicked off the scoring in the 1st frame on a "Yaddy" dba Yadier Molina RBI single making it 1-0 Cards. St. Louis then went up 2-0 after Redbirds RF Steven Piscotty took Cain deep for a solo bomb in the 4th. Cain would settle down after that and help his own cause in the 5th with a sac-fly RBI making it 2-1 Redbirds.

San Fran would then strike in the 6th (Brandon Crawford RBI single) and in the 7th (Kelby Tomlinson RBI single) making it 3-2 Gigantes. Garcia would be responsible for the Crawford RBI as he would go six giving up three runs on the night and take a no-decision.

Then in the 7th on a Matt Carpenter's fielder's choice the Redbirds tie the game up as the San Fran Pen could not hold the lead. The Gigantes then went to Reliever Hunter Strickland in the 8th and "Yaddy" like only "Yaddy" can takes him deep for a solo bomb and the game-winning hit as the Redbirds win 4-3 moving to 77-43.

The Gigantes fall to 65-55 but gets help from the Fighting Elephants of East Bay Hardball dba Oakland Athletics as they beat Dodger blue earlier in the day. I expect the Redbirds to be at the top of the heap come October but will the defending World Champs be in the mix?
