The Chicago Cubs and starter Jake Arrieta was on solid footing from the frame one as Rookie Star Hot Corner Kris Bryant took L.A. Dodgers starter Alex Wood deep for a 2-0 Cubs lead. Little did we know it would Cubbbies Ace Arrieta going complete job and not giving up a hit.
More impressive for Arrieta as that Local was biting and his Slide Piece was moving out this world was he struck out the side 1-2-3 in the 9th. Wood takes the loss as he went six giving up just two runs on the Bryant Bomb and eight hits.
"Maddon Ball" needed this as they were on a four-game skid avoiding the sweep from the Gigantes and Dodgers. The Redbirds helped both by beating the Gigantes again winning that series 2-1.
Arrieta moves to 17-6 and he was already in the conversation for the NL Cy Young not that "Plot" thickens in his starts through September...
