The Toronto Blue Jays needed to make a stand after the Ne York Yankees were trying to return the favor from last weekend that saw the 'Jays sweep the Pinstripes at the Bronx Zoo three straight. The 'Jays called on RHP Drew Hutchison and OF Jose Bautista dba "Joey Bats" who stepped up at the dish as the Toronto avoids the three-piece sweep from the Yanks with a 3-1 victory!

"Hutch" went 6 2/3 frames allowing one run on just three hits as he struck out five. That one run came in the 6th off the Ash, Maple, or Bamboo of one Yanks CF Jacoby Ellsbury who took "Hutch" deep to close that 3-0 lead to 3-1 .

The 'Jays crooked three they put up in 3rd off Yanks starter Luis Severino was highlighted by a much-needed "Joey Bats" two-run bomb scoring who else Josh Donaldson making it 3-0. That bomb was after Donaldson's RBI single and the 'Jays finally get on the board in the series.

Toronto moves to 65-54 just 1/2 game back of the Pinstripes who falls to 64-52. The AL East is a two-headed monster and with plenty of hardball still to be played it might go down to the last weekend in late September into October.
