The Utah Jazz shocked a few by grabbing former Duke star and Mizzou Tigers lead man Quinn Snyder. He inherits though a youthful roster loaded with pieces with huge upside and game. Will Snyder's coaching style translate to the Logo as he has been an NBA assistant on three different occasions with his last stop last season in Atlanta with his former Duke teammate Danny Ferry running the Hawks.

The Jazz current roster looks like a whose who among star college players. Snyder will lean on his assistants in coaching and player development but there is no denying the talent level. Former Butler star Gordon Hayward and Georgia Tech star Derrick Favors along with 2nd-year PG Trey Burke leads the Jazz and that is more than solid. Can Utah head north and are they better than the T'Wolves and Nuggets heading north trying to get to OKC and Rip City?

#SaltPalaceJAZZ 2014-15 Vitals

Franchise Player (s): Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors, Trey Burke

Building Blocks: Alec Burks, Rudy Gobert, Dante Exum, Enes Kanter

Park City Utah Host (Jazz Top Rookies): Dante Exum/Rodney Hood

Sleeper Player (s): Jazz combo guard Alec Burks is serious and he maybe the most talented guard on that roster. When he gets major minutes he shines and he should be a force starting or ending games or both. Rook Hood from #DukeInTheNBA was a monster in summer league with his NBA-ready wing game and he should have an instant impact.

Trade Piece (s): The Jazz will have to move a piece or two as they can pay everyone but who do you keep. Enes Kanter might be a piece to move and maybe even Burks as Rook top pick Dante Exum will eventually get minutes with Hood playing some shooting guard as well.

#SaltPalaceJAZZ 2014-15 Outlook tied 4th with T'Wolves in the Northwest

The point guard duties will be handled by former Michigan star Trey Burke who came on late in his rookie season. They drafted Aussie Dante Exum who has struggled a bit but they go on upside. Alec Burks though is more than ready and the Jazz might have problems keeping him in the fold. He can play both guard slots and is oozing with game.

The shooting guard/small forward slot will go to maybe Burks if they go small pr even Gordon Hayward. Hayward is an All-Star walking and the major centerpiece for the Jazz moving forward. Hood will get minutes here as well. Watch for former Arizona State versatile SF Carrick Felix in the mix. Vets like Dhantay Jones and Steve Novak supply perimeter defense and Novak of course spreads the floor.

Favors is the big piece on that Jazz front line with the Turkish Enes Kanter right there with him. The Jazz get insurance on that front grabbing former Wiz Kids D.C. enforcer and Clemson Tiger Trevor Booker. France's Rudy Gobert looks improved as the Jazz had to be impressed by what they saw in the FIBA 2K14 tourney from Gobert playing "Big" and being what he is a rim protector. That should be that four-man rotation on that front line with a sprinkle of Notre Dame rook Jack Cooley.

The Jazz should be better than 2013-14 but how much better is the question?
