The Kansas City Chiefs knew what they were up against but if you put the two on the Chiefs and Chargers on paper together it would be hard to separate them as they both have goons (real Players) running a mock on both sides o the Wilson pigskin!
Well after we separated them after the final buzzer the Chiefs come away with a 23-20 grind with a stench of an old AFC West battle all over this one. It was the Chief's "D" rising up holding an explosive Bolts offense to net 251 yards but just 69 of that on the ground.
Throw in the Chiefs top three players on offense QB Alex (19/28 221 yds TD), RB Jamaal (22/95 TD), and WR D-Bowe (5/84) that's why the Chiefs hit the winner's circle and nothing else. Big Red" Chiefs lead man Andy Reid has been in big games for years and the game plan vs a than 5-1 Chargers outfit was perfecto!
The Bolts left some plays out there as Rook RB Branden Oliver ran for 67 yards on fifteen carries but was a non-factor in the passing game. QB Rivers was 17 for 31 for 205 yards and two TD's and an INT but they just didn't make the play that defines a team winning a ball game.
Bolts led 14-10 at the break and 14-13 after three. It was the 11 play 70-yard drive by the Chiefs that resulted in a Smith to FB Anthony Sherman that was the back breaker and gave Red Friday their first lead of the ball game.
The Bolts countered with a vintage Rivers commanded drive of their own but after 12 plays and covering 77 yards they settled for a game-tying FG. Red Friday give them credit as Alex took them 62 yards on nine plays for the game-winning FG and that was clutch.
Chiefs move to 3-3 as the Bolts fall to 5-2...
