They have been a winner since he landed and for six straight season until this past season they were over the .500 mark. Rays former skipper Joe Maddon has decided through numerous media outlets to explore other opportunities and has opted out of contract managing the Rays.

Maddon was a "Monster in the Dugout" for the Rays as he managed in a division that was top-heavy with perennial AL east powers like the Carmines and the Bronx Bombers. Under Maddon though the Rays defied all the odds taking that small market payroll and competing day and day out with the Carmines and Bronx Bombers.

With the Rays he compiled a 754-705 w-l from 2006-2014 with his best season being 2008 season where they finished 97-65 and 1st in the Al east. Maddon along with Rays GM then Andrew Friedman built a winner from top to bottom and grew that Rays farm system.

The Rays topped 90 plus wins in five out of the nine seasons and finished 1st and 2nd twice. There will be Teams lining up to get Maddon's services but what will he do manage or want to move to the front office? Friedman is in L.A. and the Dodgers have Don Mattingly and that job is far from open.

Look for some big market teams to go after Maddon as like the North Siders and Amazins' along with the small market Twinkies on the Junior Circuit.
