In a game that was decided by that old adage good pitching beats good hitting it was all over game 3 in the 2014 "Fight for the Commissioner" as the scene shifted to McCovey Cove in the bay. Both starters gave up runs but kept their teams in it as it came down to the Pens and both were stellar in game 3.
After a Alcides Escobar lead-off two-bagger to start game 3 and two infield outs as the Royals went up 1-0 after one. Giants starter Tim "Huddy" Hudson settled down and went 5 2/3 innings allowing three runs on four hits.
Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie went five allowing two runs on four hits as the Gigantes finally got to him on the bottom half of the 6th with #BeRoyalKC up 3-0. Then Gigantes put up a crooked two to close the gap to 3-2 highlighted by a Michael Morse run-scoring double.
That would be it as the Royals pen would allow no runs, two hits, and they struck out two for four frames getting the "W" with Kansas City captain save-a-game Greg Holland slamming the door.
The Giants pen in 3 1/3 frames allowed two hits but struck out five as they held the Royals hitters at bay. A classic fall classic tilt with middle frames drama giving way to the bullpens.
Game 4 on Saturday October 25th features Jason Vargas for the Royals vs the Gigantes Ryan Vogelsong at 8pm ET!
