Are you kidding me with the New Orleans Saints up 23-10 in the 4th after two consecutive Shayne Graham FG's the Lions were headed to "A QB Driven League" dead. Then out of nowhere the Lions with the Pontiac Silverdome Gods and a hint of Jim Caldwell magic sprinkled in never say never.
Lions QB Matthew Stafford out of nowhere hits former Notre Dame stand out hardball and football Star Golden Tate for a 73 yard TD to make it 23-17 Saints and just like that things tightened up at the big Ford Assembly line dba Ford Field! Stafford (27/40 299 yds 2 TD 2 INT) to Tate was "Golden" all sunday long with Tate grabbing 10 Wilson pigskins for 154 yards and a score. Yes that 73 yards helped but he was doing double-duty carrying MEGAtron's weight as well.
The Lions then get the pig right back and Stafford to WR Corey Fuller on a five-yard TD pass and that was your ball game. The way that game ended is the Saints 2014 season in a nutshell when it goes bad it's really bad with no middle ground to stand on.
Saints blow a 23-10 lead with things appearing in order. Brees threw for 342 yards on 28 for 45 with two TD's and a INT. Both WR Marquis Colston (6/111) and Kenny Stills 5/103 TD) had 100 yard days. Neither team ran the pig with any authority and that was the main reason the Saints could not hold that lead and run the clock out.
Lions move to 5-2 and the Saints who was looking at 3-3 and a whole new season is now 2-4 and that is tough sledding except they play in the NFC South where it looks like the division winner needs tom 9-7.
