Where do you start talking about the 2014-15 Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers as they are still two years away from making any noise in the Atlantic let alone the Eastern Conference. They have went into the Youth Movement which is short for the scariest word in professional sports "Rebuild". If anything they will be somewhat exciting with all these new names on the roster including some young dandies.
The Sixers grabbed Joel Embiid as many though he would go #1 maybe to Cleveland or even #2 to the Bucks. Those slots gave way to Kansas teammate Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker. He will be out for an extended period of time but his upside is somewhere closer to the planet of Mars.
Michael Carter-Williams dba M.C.W. is all of that scattered, smothered, and covered as he was 2013-14 NBA Rookie of the year. He is joined by draft mate Nerlens Noel who missed all of 2013-14 with that ACL he suffered in January of 2013 in his freshman year at UK. They will be the core along with Embiid to get the Sixers and lead man Brett Brown out of the abyss!
#76ERSnation 2014-15 Vitals
Franchise Player (s): M.C.W. , Embiid, Noel
Building Blocks: Tony "206" Wroten Jr., Alexey Shved, James Anderson, Luc Mbah a Moute,
Top Philly Tony Luke's Cheesesteak Runner: Joel Embiid
Top Free Agents: Luc Mbah a Moute, Alexey Shved, Eric Maynor
Sleeper Player (s): Caspar Ware the former The"Beach" pint-sized Point God and that would be Long Beach State as he was dynamite in the Orlando Summer League. He will allow M.C.W. and Wroten Jr. to play off the orange to create more scoring for Philly.
Trade Piece (s): They have many where do you start as Philly with it's rebuild is in a perfect slot financially to take on a deal but would they wreck the "Rebuild" or just stay pat and work through the draft with all that cap space.
#76ERSNation 2014-15 Outlook 5th in the Atlantic
M.C.W. will starts his 2nd season as the hunted and he will also be trying to elevate his game into the pantheon of elite Point Gods in the logo or at least in the back end of that conversation. Wroten Jr. another from the talent-rich "206" area code of Seattle, Washington is a combo with tricks in his game and he will allow flexibility for the 76ers to move M.C.W. off the orange. Ware and vet PG Eric Maynor are reinforcements who will get plenty of opportunities to make a name for themselves on the roster.
The shooting guard is a subject for debate as James Anderson a former Spurs 1st rounder and "Pops" missed but now he is under former Spurs assistant and now Sixers lead man Brown can shoot it but they need consistency from him. Look for former T'Wolves and Russian National team player Alexey Shved to get plenty of chances to prove his worth in the back court. Watch Elliott Williams the former Duke and Memphis standout he can play and shoot it.
The front line will be led by vet and former Bucks player Luc Mbah a Moute abd Nerlens Noel. Former Sixers 1st rounder Arnett Moultrie is running out of time and Hollis Thompson is a nice athletic wing as the former Georgetown standout tries to carve himself out a permanent slot.
Sixers 2014 2nd rounder K.J. McDaniels might be the surprise of all the Philly young players and he is SF. Embiid though is the foundation along with Noel and the Sixers can't wait to see him on the hardwood. Embiid's college coach Bill Self of Kansas compared him to "Dream" of Clutch City and he better hope Embiid or at least the Sixers hope he is a young Dikembe Mutumbo of Hoya Paranoia!
The Sixers are waiting patiently as the young pieces pile up...
