The 2014 NFL season is at the halfway point of the 2nd quarter and there M.V.P. race is heating up. The list thus far is led by two giants in the state of Texas leading their teams to winning records. After those two it is a toss up for the other three spots talking the top 5 candidates.

2014 NFL M.V.P. Candidates in "SUNDAY TALK" powered by "Don't mess with TEXAS"

1. DeMARCO MURRAY RB #Cowboys

6 gms 159 carries 785 yds  130.5 ypg 6 TDs

Yes he is averaging a league high 26.5 carries but he is no doubt delivering for the 'Boys. His numbers also reflect a talented O-Line led by 1st rounders Travis Frederick, Tyron Smith, and Zach Martin imagine that talking Fat Boys in the headlines and you need them. If Murray can stay healthy he is well on his way to 1,700 plus yards and if he gets to that total Jerry's Gang might be on their way to Chip #6 and for the love of How 'bout them Cowboys!

1. JJ WATT D-Line #BullsOnParade

6 Gms 26 tckls  (9 asst) 4 red jersey collections (sacks) 19 hurries 1 INT 3 TDs 7 Pass Deflections

Where do you start talking "Area 99" and unlike "Area 51" we know "Area 99" exists. It's his impact on every snap which is amazing. The great Lions HOF and current Steelers D-Coordinator once said it's not getting home but knocking on the door meaning hurries on the signal-caller and "Area 99" is a pizza-delivery man on game day!

3. ANDREW LUCK QB #BlueSwagger

6 gms 172/260 Comp/Att  1,987 yds (1st in NFL) 331.2 ypg (1st NFL) 17n TD 7 INT 99.6 QBR

He is the future when Tom Terrific of Foxboro and Manning Mile High stage left which will be soon Luck along with A-Rog of the fightin' Cheeseheads will be the names at the top. If only Luck could cut down on his Interceptions but when he throws one he is right back in the saddle like Maverick of the hit movie "Top Gun" a stubborn S.O.B. but in a good way. Colts Nation enjoy #12 as he evolves his game is not "Butta" but Chuck Strong!

4. Le'VEON BELL RB #HereWeGoSteelers

6 gms 105 carries 542 yds TD 28 rec 251 yds

Arguably the best double-threat of RB's in the NFL as only in his 2nd season he has emerged as a "Monster Inside Tackles" at Bluedude Sportstalk. He is 2nd to the Cowboys Murray in total blades of grass from scrimmage as he has 793 yds to Murray's 940 yds. The Steelers did not miss on Bell and he will get better with more film work and the attention to detail in his game.

Can JJ Watt join Purple People Eater Alan Paige and the G-Men;s Lawrence Taylor as the only two defensive players to grab the award?
