The Washington Nationals staying close to the Top of the NL East was hoping to sweep the Rangers and move closer to the NL East leading Braves. The only problem was they were facing Rangers Ace Yu Darvish ands they knew it was going to be a tall Order to beat him or even get "Ducks on the Pond"!
Well they Nats didn't sweep and they get vintage Yu Darvish to boot as the rangers shutout then Nats 2-0. Darvish moving to 5-2 in 2014 went eight strong as the Nats get five hits and two free passes but went down swinging or looking a Dozen Times. Nats Starter Tanner Roark was equally as effective as Darvish as he had Rangers Hitters bottled up as he took a scoreless game into the 7th until Rangers OF Leonys Martin took him for a Solo Bomb to make it 1-0 Rangers breaking up a scoreless game. Roark went seven giving up seven hits while he struck out four and walked two hitters.
Then Rangers get an insurance run in the eighth on a Donnie Murphy run-scoring single scoring Daniel Robertson to make it the final score 2-0. The Rangers move to 29-28 while the Nats fall to 27-28. Rangers Captain Save-A-Game Joakim Soria gets his 11th save of 2014.
360 Degrees...Darvish has 83 K's (8th MLB) in just 10 starts as the MLB Leader Corey Kluber of the Tribe has 95 K's in 12 starts. Yankees Masahiro Tanaka has 88 K's (6th MLB) in 11 starts...go figure!
