It's Father's Day and for Major-Leaguers Dad is at the Ballpark today or some capacity with them locked in for a Great Day! Well Cubs LHP Travis Wood will give the Game Ball to Dad as he and Cubs Reliever Neil blanks the 'Phils 3-0 to end a Keystone State Motel Swing at 3-3!
Wood allowed just three hits through eight innings of work as Wood had a No-Hitter through five until 'Phils Lead-Off Hitter and CF Ben Revere hit a single. Wood also walked three but struck out six as Ramirez came in and got the 'Phils out in order 1-2-3 in the 9th.
Cubs Offense was supplied by Anthony Rizzo as he took 'Phils Starter A.J. Burnett deep for a Solo Bomb in the first. The Cubbies scored run #2 on a Starlin Castro single in the 3rd and run #3 on Nate Schierholtz double in the 6th. Burnett went eight and gave up all three runs on eight hits.
Cubbies move to 27-39 while the 'Phils ditto the Cubbies dropping to 29-37...
