Uruguay struck first in the 24th minute on the Costa Ricans to move up 1-0 on a Edison Cavani Penalty Kick. The Costa Ricans didn't let that bother them as they struck three time sin the 2nd half to beat Uruguay 3-1.

In the 54th minute they get on the board by a Joel Campbell score to tie the score at 1-1. Just three minutes later the Costa Ricans strike again as they another goal by Oscar Duarte to make it 2-1. For more breathing room they get a goal in the 84th Minute by Marco Urena to make it 3-1 the final score.

Costa Rica lead with shots 12-9 as both needed these points with the two World Top 10 Teams in their group being England and Italy. Uruguay Defender Max Pereira gets the dubious distinction of getting the 2K14 World Cup's 1st Red Card.
