The Cubs are starting to play better Hardball and they are also starting to get better Starting Pitching. Having said that Cubbies Starter RHP Jake Arrieta shuts down the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizen's Bank Ballpark through seven innings allowing two hits and striking out nine 'Phils. Arrieta defeats 'Phils Starter Roberto Hernandez as Hernandez pitched well but gave up one big mistake.
That mistake was in the 4th inning to Cubbies Shortstop Starlin Castro who took Hernandez deep for a Two-Run Blast for a 2-0 Cubs lead. That was enough as the 'Phils score in the ninth on a Domonic Brown Single scoring Jimmy Rollins. For J-Roll he doubled to start the inning tying him with Ohio University Bobcat Alum Michael Jack Schmidt for All-Time Phillies Hits Leader at 2,234 hits.
Cubbies move to 27-38 and the 'Phils 28-37...
