The St. Louis Cardinals got a big boost when LHP Jamie Garcia was activated three weeks ago into the Redbirds Rotation. Garcia was dealing going seven allowing just three hits shutting down that somewhat potent 'Jays Offense.
The Cardinals Offense came early and via the "Big Fly". Cards Hot Corner Matt Carpenter took Drew Hutchison for a Two-Run Blast in the 2nd Inning as the Cards scored four runs. Then in the 3rd the Cards Shortstop Jhonny Peralta took "Hutch" deep for a Solo Blast as that capped the Redbirds Runs for the day as that was all Garcia and the Redbirds Staff would need.
'Jays Starter Hutchison gave up five runs on six hits in only three innings pitched. The 'Jays Stars Melky Cabrera, Jose Bats, Encarnacion, and Brett Lawrie combined to go 0-13 at the dish with three K's and three walks. Redbirds move to 33-31 while the Blue Birds fall to 38-26 as the Cards take two of three.
