The Pittsburgh Pirates stay on the Cards' Heels by running by the Washington Nationals 5-1 behind Rook RHP Garrit Cole. Coles was magnificent as he goes seven innings allowing two hits and one run while striking out four. The only run he gave up was to Nats Back Stop Wilson Ramos who took him deep. It was the middle of the Buccos Line Up that did the damage on Nats Rook Taylor Jordan. All-Star hot corner for the Pirates Pedro Alavarez went 2 for 2 scoring two runs with an RBI as did Pirates Back Stop Russell Martin who went 3 for 4 scoring two runs. Nats have lost that NATitude and five straight at Nats Park.

The New York Yankees needed some offense and they get it at the strike of midnight at the hands of Ranger Closer Joe Nathan. Bombers core two in the top of the ninth to erase a 4-3 deficit as they get a run scoring triple and a run scoring single all of Nathan. Both Starter Hughes for the Yanks and Ogando for the Ranger gave up three runs. Yankees DH Vernon Wells was the only player in the game to go multi-hit. Nathan blows just save #2 and the Sandman...Mariano Rivera gets save #32.

Redbirds RHP Shelby Miller goes six scoreless innings giving up three hits and striking out six allowing no runs. The Cards beat the Phils 4-1 as All-Star first baseman Allen Craig goes 2 for 3 with two ribbies and a run scored. The Redbirds with the win keep their 1 1/2 game lead in the NL East on the Pirates.
