They struggled to where it looked like the Heel's wouldn't finish in the Upper half of the ACC. Then like most Young Roy Williams Teams they get better and better as the season moves along and this is exactly the case here. The Blue Devils are still trying to secure that all important #1 Seed in the East or March Madness so they NCAA can put together the Duke Invitational on their way to the Final Four.

The first match Up the Heels played well until they ran into a buzz saw of Duke-Like Defense and then the Heels couldn't make a shot. UNC led at the Break but shooting under 60% from the Charity Stripe doomed them in the end going 13/23. UNC Sophomore Sniper P.J. Hairston led the Heels with 23 points and 8 boards but shooting only 1 for 7 from the Arc. The Blue Devils at the same token played harder and better and wanted it more in the second half as they had Four Starters in Double Figures with PG Quinn Cook and PF Mason Plumlee each putting up 18 points.

Since that February 13, 2013 contest the Heels are 6-0 in the ACC averaging around 75 ppg and a 11.5 point margin. They have been getting solid Guard play from Freshman Marcus Paige and Senior Dexter Strickland. They have also been getting timely Three Point Shooting from Bullock and Hairston. The Blue Devils are 4-2 in that same stretch with losses to the Wahoos and Terps. The Top Three Players for Duke to have any Success at a Premium Level is Seth Curry, Mason Plumlee, and Ryan Kelly with excellent PG play from Cook.
