The Michigan State Spartans had no trouble what so ever as expected from the Memphis Tigers and they march onto a 70-48 beat down of the Tigers. Now Izzone and Company head to Naptown for a Sweet 16 Match Up of the winner between Creighton/Duke.

The Spartans did to Memphis what they always do to their Opponents and that is stifling Half Court Defense and Transition Defense. Sparty held the Tigers to under 30% from the field and under 23% from the Arc. They also had a +16 rebound margin over the Tigers. Food for thought they were led in scoring by smooth Freshman Gary Harris' 23 points (pictured left a 2012 McDonald's All-American from the State of Indiana)  including 4 for 7 from deep. Sparty also gets from their Inside from the Payne/Nix Combo a combined 27 points, eighteen rebounds, four thefts, and five blocks. In no way shape of form could the Tigers handle that Sparty Style that is a blueprint for numerous Final 4's, Elite 8's, and Sweet 16's.

The Tigers now go back to Memphis and try to regroup from a pretty good season and they might have to deal with a Player leaving for the Logo but that shouldn't hurt them one bit. The Tigers had the Talent but it was the little things compounded with the overall goal of putting the Orange into the Rim.
