They went start to finish and they handed the first Big Blow in the Tourney as the Wichita State Shockers smack the Zags of Gonzaga 76-70. That is a #9 over a #1 and the Game was played in the West at the New Salt Palace...Energy Solutions Solutions Arena.

The Shockers led 36-31 at the half and the 2nd frame was back and forth with the cream rising to the top. The Shockers made just enough plays at the right time to upset the Zags. Led by Guard Ron Baker and Forward Cleanthony Early 16 apiece and Freshman Fred Van Fleet from close to the Bluedude's Neck of the Woods Rockford, Illinois Auburn HS 13 points and three helpers the Shockers put away #1 in the West. The Shockers win by simply shooting 50% from the Field and the "Land of Plenty" and that's what did in the Zags. They couldn't get Stops when they needed to and when Teams shoot 50% from the Field and the Arc you most likely will not get that W.

The Zags were led by All-American Big Kelly Olynyk's 26 points and nine rebounds. Guard Kevin Pangos had 19 points and five helpers including four Money Balls. In turn the Zags shoot 35% from the field and from the Arc and that was the game. It's not all about numbers but it's all about numbers. They also missed nine free throws compared to the Shockers six.

Now the Shockers await the winner of Ole Miss and La Salle in the West Region.
