The Chicago Cubs had an interesting decision to make concerning their Outfield Depth as RF Jorge Soler again visits the 15-Day D.L. with an Oblique. Cubs President of Ops Theo Epstein pulled the trigger last night before midnight and grabs a more than "Get me to October" Replacement in Seattle Mariners CF Austin Jackson.

Now that A-Jack joined the Cubs before September 1st he is now eligible for the Post Season Roster and that is huge as the Cubbies are trying to hold down that NL Wild Card Slot. Excellent move of the Chess Pieces by Team Theo and the Cubbies as they needed to add a piece and they get what the Detroit Tigers thought at one point an All-Star Caliber CF.

This Grade A move for the "North Siders" heading into September meaningful Hardball as Jackson is insurance for Soler and maybe an upgrade.  Yes A-Jack has patrolled CF in all of his time in the Majors with the M's and the Motor City Kitties. Soler who couldn't not stay healthy on the Farm cannot stay healthy in 162 in the "Bigs". I expect A-Jack to move to RF giving "Maddon Ball" some unique and real flexibility up and down that line up.

Speaking of Soler (343 AB .265 avg 7 HR 42 RBI 35 R) he also has trouble hitting the Change, the Local (Curveball) and the Slide Piece. A-Jack (419 AB .272 avg 8 HR 38 RBI 46 R 15 SB) can hit and his 2nd half numbers prove that with more "Pop" than Soler. Both Chris Coghlan and Chris Denorfia are Bench Players not everyday and CF Dexter Fowler has started in 121 games of a possible 130. A-Jack with some work in the next few days should play in all OF Positions especially RF.
