For awhile there it was the Alex Smith to Travis Kelce Show as the Chiefs were all over the Houston Texans early and often. The Chiefs at one point in the 1st half led 27-6 as the Texans get a late FG to bring that deficit down from 21 to 18 at a 27-9 halftime score.

Kansas City then used its "D" to get after the Texans as they finished the day with 5 red jersey collections. OLB Justin Houston had one of the five as DE Allen Bailey collected two sacks. Kelce finished the day with 106 yards and two TDs on six grabs. Chiefs QB Smith was 22 for 33 and 243 yards and 3 TDs as the Texans looked bad in the 1st half.

Texans QB Brian Hoyer got it going late as he was 18 for 34 for 236 yards and a TD, and INT and a fumble lost. His two top targets WR Deandre Hopkins (9/98 2 TD) and Nate Washington (6/105) had solid games.

The day belonged to Texans DE JJ Watt dba "Area 99" as Watt had 9 tackles, two red jersey collections, two passes deflected, and a forced fumble. Maybe is the Texans had 99 at all 11 spots on "D" the Chiefs would have been in trouble.

Chiefs All-Purpose RB Jamaal Charles had 57 yards rushing and 46 receiving and a TD as he continues to be a "Problem" for most defenses....
