Chicago Cubs Ace RHP or Co-Ace I have been hearing Jake Arrieta was on the verge of throwing at least a complete game and even another shutout as that .093 ERA after the Mid Summers Classic was going to be lowered. Out of nowhere after the Cubbies chased Buccos starter A.J. Burnett in the 6th scoring two runs Arrieta was going to escape the 6th with no harm done.

With Gregor Polanco on 2nd with two outs running the Pirates Starlin Marte hit a soft come backer right to Arrieta and Jake soft tosses a ball right over the outstretched mitt of one Cubbies first baseman Anthony Rizzo as Polanco comes all the way from around 2nd to score. They throw out Marte at 2nd to end the frame as it was 2-1 Cubs.

Jake got through the 7th and then started the 8th still up 2-1 and with one out bases loaded the Pirates score on a fielder's choice tying the game while the Cubbies throw to 1st for one out and then gets Josh Harrison in a pickle between 3rd and home plate tagging him out as it was 2-2 heading to the 9th.

Arrieta gets the No-Decision going eight strong giving up two runs (1 earned run) as he struck out 5. In the 12th with both Pens holding up both Chris Denorfia and Austin Jackson single to lead off the 12th and a wild pitch moved Quintin Berry (pinch-runner for Denorfia) to 2nd and to 3rd on Jackson's single     .  Anthony Rizzo followed that up with a Sac-Fly RBI and the Cubbies win 3-2 as Hector Rondon grabs  a "W" moving to 6-4.

"Maddon Ball" moves to 84-61 and the Buccos fall to 87-58 as that is a three game lead for Pittsburgh as we get game #4 on Thursday...

Kris Bryant went 3 for 6 for the Cubbies with an RBI...
