The Virginia Cavaliers have 2/3 of their dynamic guard play and that was plenty enough to get by that grit and grind half court playing Pittsburgh Panthers of Lead Man Jamie Dickson. The Wahoos did it with steady PG London Perrantes and and an always efficient Combo Guard Malcolm Brogdon who was on the Bluedude Sportstalk "Campus Hardwood" All-American List before the season started.

Brogdon had a team-high 18 points on just ten shots with Perrantes adding 10 points and waiting on six 'Hoos Tables. The game as won in the 1st half with the Cavs controlling the all important "Pace" with a 25-15 lead at the break.

Pitt made it a game early in the 2nd half to the mid 2nd half as the Cavs methodically just grinded out a key "W". Pitt was led by Jamel Artis' 20 points and eight boards. The Panthers though shot just 38% from the field and 37% from the arc as that rugged Cavs "D" had them struggling all night long in both the half court and in transition.

The Wahoos at 24-1 overall and 12 -1 in the ACC has five games left highlighted by another home date with FSU and in the last ACC game on the schedule at the KFC Yum Center vs the Cards of Louisville.

Pitt still has a chance as they have to finish over the .500 mark in ACC play as they are currently 6-7 in ACC play and 17-10 overall.

Note: Cavs are scheduled to get SG/WF Justin Anderson back around early to mid March 2015...he is that key cog that has the Wahoos a Final Four Fav.
