The L.A. Dodgers in the final game of a four piece with the Redbirds of Baseball Town USA get a gem from Korean LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu as he goes seven innings allowing just one run (on an Error) on five hits as he struck out seven Redbirds as the "Boys in Blue" win 5-1. The Dodgers in turn jumped all over Rook Redbirds Starter Carlos Martinez for four runs on seven hits as he struck out two. The big blow was catcher A.J. Ellis taking Martinez deep in the 5th on a three-run shot as that broke a 1-1 tie.

The Redbirds only mustered seven hits and five of those hits were by Matt Holliday and David Freese. The Dodgers keep getting hitting to go with excellent production from the Starting Rotation. The "Cuban Missile" Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig went 3 for 4 and Carl Crawford was 2 for 5 and they are getting it from a loaded roster where All-Star CF Matt Kemp hasn't even been in the line up a month yet and we are almost in the middle of August.

The Dodgers now lead the NL West by 5 1/2  over the D-Backs and the Redbirds are four games back of the Buccos in the NL Central. Dodgers will host thew Tampa Bay Rays in Chavez Ravine and that will be one of the featured games on "Weekend Benders" right here at Bluedude Sportstalk on Friday August 9. The Redbirds will host the rival Cubbies for three and that might be what the Redbirds Doctor ordered...a heavy dose of North Side of Chi City Hardball to get back on track...Cubs...luv ya!
