The St. Louis Cardinals took a 1-0 lead at the end of four as Redbirds Starter Joe Kelly was moving along until the top half of the 5th when Braves OF Justin Upton sent a two-run blast off Kelly to make it 2-1 Braves. The Redbirds then come right back doing damage putting up a crooked three in their half and doing it all with two outs as they are the Show's Best with runners in scoring position and two outs. Redbirds win 6-2 and score first in the four-game set.

Braves Starter Paul Maholm couldn't stop the bleeding as he was chased in the 6th after going 5 1/3 innings giving up five runs on five hits while striking out four and handing out three free passes. Kelly gets the win as they both factored in the decision as Maholm takes the loss. Kelly went six strong as he gave up seven hits and allowed the two runs off Upton's two-run bomb.

The Card's Offense was supplied by the 1-2-3 hitters in the line up in Matt Carpenter, Carlos Beltran, and Matt Holiday. They combined to go 6 for 12 at the Dish with four runs scored and they knocked in three. They dominated Braves Pitching and to the Cards credit their Pen did the job after kelly exited to preserve his "W".

The Redbirds now await the score of the Buccos and Gigantes contest as the Red Legs beat the D-Backs in dramatic fashion to stay on pace. This looks and smells like an October 7-game thriller...real talk!
