The Oakland Athletics went into as Blue-Collar City with their East Bay Blue-Collar Hat and put in some work and almost took out the AL Central leading Tigers in four straight. With the Tigers down 6-3 in the bottom half of the 9th they put up a crooked four to win it 7-6 off of Torii Hunter's Three-Run Big Fly. All that drama off one of the best closers in the Show Grant Balfour who blows Save #2 and falls to (0-3) but has 33 saves out of 35 chances and that won't happen again like only a Top-Shelf Closer would tell you.

The A's jumped all over the AL's leading Cy Young Candidate "Mad Max of Comerica" and he was nothing but mad after this one. Scherzer allowed eight hits and six runs and two bombs as both Jed Lowrie and Brandon Moss hit two-run Bombs off of Scherzer. He didn't have his stuff as the A's were determined to send a message to the Tigers with the four-game sweep. Athletics 14-game winner Bartolo Colon was automatic giving up one run through five innings on seven hits. Colon was in line for the Decision until that A's Pen blew it up.

Before Torii's Heroics the Tigers Offense was supplied by Prince Fielder (3 for 4 w/ 3 runs n 1 RBI) and Victor Martinez (3 for 5 w/ 1 RBI). One of Prince's Hits was a Solo Shot off A's Middle Reliever Jerry Blevins.

Now the Tigers will host the AL Central's #2 Team the Tribe and at least they have a "W" under their belt. The Tribe will come in six back as they dropped their last two games in ATL vs the Braves. A s hot as the Athletics were the AL West leading Rangers are just as hot as they swept the M's in 206 for a three game lead over the A's. A's did pick up some games in the Wild Card which is comforting to know.
