The Pirates have won the first two gams in a pivotal series as both the Redbirds and Red Legs keep putting W's in the left column. The Pirates couldn't have asked for a better start from RHP Charlie Morton as he went 7 2/3 innings of seven hit hardball allowing just one run. The Gigantes could not get to Morton as the Buccos didn't really get to Giants Starter Madison Bumgarner except for that 3-Run HR from Buccos Shortstop Clint Barmes and that was all the Buccos would need on this night. Bumgarner's Line was eight innings allowing three runs on seven hits walking four and striking out five.

The Pirates win 3-1 as they stay a game ahead of the Redbirds and 3 1/2 ahead of the Red Legs as they lost to the Brew Crew. With the race in the Central extremely tight a series loss here and a series loss there might set you back six to seven gams and playing for the Wild Card. As we go to press the NL Central right now would have all three teams in the "Fight for October" with the Redbirds and Red Legs battling it out in that one-game Playoff to see who gets a shot at the Dodgers, Buccos, or Braves.
