The Florida Gators send the Kentucky Wildcats back home to Lexington, Kentucky reeling with no backside as the Gators took off all of that. UK fell behind early and and never could regain enough steam to come back on a Senior-laden Gator Bunch with too much poise and moxy. Imagine that Kids staying four years in college not taking shots but the Gators are a dangerous bunch with experience and the best Team in the SEC and in the land.
Behind a 49-28 lead at the break the Gators cruised with a balanced effort as the 'Cats didn't get any closer than seven as they cut that lead midway through the 2nd half. The Gators then pulled away with an easy 84-65 "W" as they shot almost 60 % from the field and right at 60% from the Arc. Senior PF Patric Young led UF with 18 points and seven rebounds. Senior Guard Casey Prather added 15 points with SEC P.O.Y. Candidate and Senior Scott Wilbekin with a solid 13 points and four helpers.
UK gets 16 points and ten boards from Freshmen Julius Randle and 14 points from James Young and ten points from Aaron Harrison. UK's lack of a real Shooter coupled with the fact that they don't shoot it from the Stripe very well is a Time Bomb ticking for the Big Dance. They have way too may weaknesses in key areas to make a real deep run in the Tourney as all eyes are on Coach Cal.
The Gators move to an impressive but rather quiet 29-2 and finish the SEC at 18-0 the first tom do so in SEC Basketball History. The 'Cats fall to 22-9 overall and just 12-6 in SEC play.
