SMU had a very good 1st half as the wheels came off in the 2nd half and that had a lot to do with the Memphis Tigers Senior Guard Joe Jackson and Freshman Center Austin Nichols. The Mustangs just hit a snag offensively in the 2nd half and went behind double-digits and that was your ball game.

Memphis went on a crucial 21-11 run through the 2nd T.V. Timeout and went up 47-41. That 2nd half burst out the halftime break proved to be the difference as SMU had opportunities but could not cash in. Jackson led Memphis with 18 points and Freshman Big Nichols added 14 points and hauled in nine Oranges. The Tigers shot right above 46% from the field which was good enough to overcome that 4-point deficit at the break with SMU only shooting above 40%.

The Mustangs were led by Guard Nic Moore's 16 points and seven helpers with Markus Kennedy and Nick Russell each adding 13 points apiece. A rather sloppy game as the 'Stangs committed 17 turnovers to Memphis' 18 turnovers. Both teams ironically enough as they are similar in so many ways end the season tied at 23-8 overall and 12-6 in the AAC. Both are looking to get a #5 seed in the big Dance but they must win at least a game in AAC Tourney play to do so.
