The Boston Red Sox knew they were going to get a deal done it was just a matter of Numbers from how much to how long as Carmines Fixture David "Big Papi" Ortiz will remain under Contract through the 2015 season with options for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Ortiz gets two-year deal worth $16 million in 2015 and a Club or Vesting Option for 2016 and Club Option for 2017. A Vesting Option is the Players has to meet certain standards he has set in previous seasons as far as numbers on the field to get that deal that is vested.

The Carmines now have only Mike Napoli, Dustin Pedroia, Shane Victorino, Clay Buchholz, Big Papi, and Edward Mujica under Contract for the 2015 season and have only committed just north of $58.3 million for 2015. They also have on the books at $857K each Dodgers Players Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez which was part of the Financial Terms in the big Trade in 2012.  Also the Bo Sox have Club Options in 2015 for John Lackey ($15.25 million) and Craig Breslow ($4 million). That's what you call Financial Flexibility and the Red Sox have set themselves up to be major players if they want after the 2014 season and there is a Titanic Full of Teams that cannot say that for 2015 and moving forward.

Big Papi's Signing does understate what he means not only in the Lineup but in the Clubhouse as the only player left from that 2004 World Series Chip and along with Dustin Pedroia are the unquestioned leaders for the Carmines. Ortiz hit five bombs and knocked in thirteen in the 2013 Championship Run.

Carmines making solid moves and Red Sox Nation start growing that Beard in April for another Run...#GetBeard
