The North Carolina Tar Heels already knew the forecast at the Alamo Dome and it was to avoid the Bermuda Triangle as both NC State and Duke have went down in Round 1. The Providence Friar packed a punch and that punch was in 5'11" All-Big East Performer Campus Point God Bryce Cotton. The Heels escape late but it was the "Cotton Show" as the Senior from Tucson went O-Zone Layer on Tar Heel Blue.

The Heels leading 36-39 at the break put on their seat belts in the 2nd half as they traded blow for blow with not the Friars but Mr. Cotton.  UNC looked to be done at the 4:36 mark trailing 71-64 but to their credit they also have a Monster at the Point in Sophomore Marcus Paige who also came up big late. In the end the Friars could not "Squeeze the Orange" off the Glass and stop UNC from getting off the glass. As Paige and James Michael-McAdoo score the last five points for UNC to ice the "W".

UNC was led by Paige's 19 points and Brice Johnson's 16 points and eight board performance. Cotton led the Friars with a game-high 36 points on 13 for 23 from the Field and going 7 for 7 from the Stripe as he also waited on eight Friar Tables. Fittingly enough UNC had a 40-26 rebound advantage and in the end it came down to that and UNC moves one.

The Heels now await the Winner of the Iowa State/NC Central Contest...in the Est Region
