The Pittsburgh Pirates have come a long way to get to their current 47-41 2014 W-L as they finish a Three-Piece Sweep of the In-State Phightin' Phils of Philly. The Bucs get eight innings of two-run Hardball from Lefty Jeff Locke as he gives up just three hits to the 'Phils.

The Pirates Offense was balanced as they put two runs up in the first making it 2-1 Bucs and they never looked back. The 'Phils Marlon Byrd his a Solo Bomb in the 7th to make it 3-2 Bucs but the Three-Run 8th did the 'Phils in. The Pirates were led by their reigning NL M.V.P. Andrew McCutchen dba "Cutch 22" going 2 for 4 scoring two runs with an RBI. Bucs Back Stop Russell Martin added two RBIs as the 'Phils Starter and ex-Bucs Hurler A.J. Burnett lasted to the late innings.

A.J.'s Tab was...7 IP 5 H 3 R 3 ER 2 BB 7 SO as he falls to 5-8 in 2014. Team "Raise the Jolly Roger" moves to 47-41 and that is tied for 2nd with the Redbirds and 4.5 games out of 1st place. The Phightin' Phils fall to 37-51 a Bakers Dozen back in the NL East.
