The Yankees know they have their work cut out for them in the 2nd half losing C.C. Sabathia and Masahiro Tanaka for the remainder of 2014. With 27 Chips hanging and Yanks Nation always boasting and rightfully so...Tito there is no tissue for you!
Fast Forward to "Hope" as in the Yanks 2nd half sponsored by "Let's do it for the Captain" as the Yanks strike the Red Legs from the Ohio River. Behind a gritty effort from Yanks Starter David Phelps (6.1 IP 6 H 3 R 2 ER 1 BB 7 SO 2 HR) the yanks hang in there long enough to do damage and get the "W". It was Yanks CF Jacoby Ellsbury with the score knotted up at 2-2 in the bottom half of the 5th taking Red Legs Starter Mike Leake to the Yanks infamous "Short Porch" with the Captain on board to make it 4-2 Yanks. They would hold onto to that lead as the Reds score one in the 7th behind Brayan Pena a Solo Bomb and his 2nd on the night.
It was Pinstripes Captain Save-A-Game David Robertson who gets his 24th save of 2014 as the Yanks move to 48-47 just 4.5 games behind the AL East leading O's. The Red legs fall to 51-45 but 2.5 games back of the NL Central leading Brewers.
