The Miami Marlins came into action today at 42-54 which is 6.5 games back of the NL East leading Hotlanta Braves. The Marlins were looking to take the "Rubber Game" away from the St. Louis Cardinals and they did just that.

Behind RHP Henderson Alvarez going seven strong allowing five hits and just a run the Marlins got ti cookin' late as late is better than never. The Marlins leading 1-0 puts up a crooked three in the 6th highlighted by a Marcell Ozuna two-run scoring single. Then in the 8th leading 4-1 after the Redbirds Kolten Wong takes Henderson for s Solo Blast in the 7th puts up a crooked four with Jarrod Saltalamacchia going Three-Run Bomb as the Fish go onto win 8-4 taking two of three from the Cards.

The Redbirds Starter Marco Gonzalez pitched well as he went 4 2/3 innings allowing seven runs and dipping dodging five walks as the Sacks were packed twice on his short watch. The Cards Pen highlighted by Nick Greenwood's three runs on five hits in two frames as the Marlins finally broke through.

Miami moves to 43-45 and that is six games back of the Braves. The Cards will all sorts of Company falls to 3rd behind the Bucs and the Central Leading Brewers at 47-42.
