The Pittsburgh Steelers needed to get a Safety and nabbing a Rookie 1st Rounder in the 2014 NFL Draft was not out of the question and still not out of the question. Steelers still might grab Terrence Pryor of Louisville or 'Bama Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and groom one of them but the Steelers cannot waste anymore Top Draft Picks.
Mitchell brings Range and Hard-Hitting and that is certainly an upgrade for the aging Ryan Clark who will be missed as Polamalu has to find a new ride to the Home Games. Mitchell was a monster on that Panthers "D" behind Backers Luke Kuechly (2103 NFL Defensive Player of the Year) and Thomas Davis who were one and two in tackles with Mitchell being 3rd.
Mitchell a 2009 2nd Round Draft Pick by the Raiders out of Ohio University struggled with the Raiders and then was cut by the Silver & Black in 2013. He then took a one-year deal to join the Carolina Panthers as he wreaked havoc as a better in the Box Safety but average at best playing Center Field. He did play behind that Monster Front 7 in Carolina and how much of that masked M&M's Ability to play at a High-Level as we will certainly find out soon!
M&M in Black and Yellow recorded 66 tackles (50 Solo), 3.5 Red Jersey Collections, 8 Passes Deflected, 4 INTs, and 2 Forced Fumbles in Carolina in 2013...
