The Redbirds Brass at least for now looks like Geniuses as both MLB Trade Deadline Picks Ups Justin Masterson and John Lackey beat the NL Central leading Brew Crew on consecutive starts. The Redbirds still trail the Brewers by a game.

The Brewers though jumped out first and second scoring in the 1st on an A-Ram run-scoring single and a Mark Reynolds Solo Blast in the 2nd making it 2-0 Brewers. Brew Crew's Matt Garza was on his A-Game on the Bump cruising through six. The Brewers took him out and entered Zach Duke in the 7th as trouble ensued almost instantaneously!

The Redbirds Matt Holliday with Kolten Wong grounding out in front of him takes Duke Deep for a Solo Bomb to make it 2-1 Brewers. Matt Adams then singles as the Brewers went with Jeremy Jeffress on the Bump. It was three consecutive singles by Jhonny Peralta, A. J. Pierzynski, and Oscar Taveras that gave the Redbirds and lackey a 3-2 lead they would never surrender.

Lackey's Tab...(W 12-7) 7 IP 7 H 2 R 2 ER 4 SO HR gave way to Pat Neshek and Redbirds Captain Save-A-Game Trevor Rosenthal as he gets his 34th save. The Cards at 59-51 a game back of the Brewers and tied with the Pirates. The Brew Crew falls to 61-51...
