The Kansas Jayhawks were right there when it was 52-42 KU to slam the door on the Stillwater U Cowboys and didn't. The Cowboys then catch a full head of steam from All-American Guard Marcus Smart and get a huge "W" 72-65 for the Cowboys Resume and Psyche moving forward.
Behind OK State's Trio of Marcus Smart (21 pts 6 rebs 5 asst), Markel Brown (21 pts 4 asst), and Le'Bryan Nash (16 pts 4 rebs) the Cowboys rolled right past the Jayhawks late. For KU it was poor guard play and that is the reason I wouldn't touch them in the Tourney that's most important now we are in March. The Cowboys when it was 52-42 midway through the 2nd half they outscored KU 30-13 with the Jayhawks turnover prone guard play.
Andrew Wiggins had 15 points and seven boards as he left more than a few plays out there. Joel Embiid went double double 13 points and thirteen boards as he appeared to be playing injured late. Perry Ellis who played better than any of the Jayhawks had a solid 11 points and eight boards performance. Jayhawks just need someone to step up and take control of that Point Guard Situation or they will go home at some point cutting down no nets. Naadir Tharpe had 6 points an six turnovers as he looked indecisive down the stretch.
The Jayhawks win the Big 12 Regular Season Title but moving forward it won't be easy as that potential #1 Seed in March Madness takes a hit. The Cowboys wit this signature win might have played themselves firmly into the Tourney at 19-10 overall.
