The Canadians are not cruising by anyone as they are getting every ones best shot an a Friday Rematch of the 2010 Gold Medal Game vs Team USA will be no different. Blackhawks Winger Sharpie #10 dba Patrick Sharp scored the games 1st goal in Period 1 at the 13:37 mark to give Canada a 1-0 lead. Latvia struck right back with a breakaway goal by Winger Lauris Darzins to make it 1-1 at the 15:41 mark.

After those two goals it was nip and tuck the rest of the way as you could feel the tension and anxiety from the Canadians as they could not shake and get loose on Latvia. To make matters worse Isles Star and Canadian Center John Tavares sustained a leg injury and it appears he might be sidelines the rest of the way. That is a blow to Team Canada but they still are a Loaded Baked Potato coming in with 11 of the top 14 NHL Scorers in the Sochi Winter Games and how 'bout them Shots on Net. Make no mistake about it the Canadians were taking no shots on net home as they out shot Latvia 57-16.

At the 13:06 mark in the 3rd frame it was Nashville Predators Defenseman Shea Weber who beat Latvia Net Minder Kristers Gudlevkis on the assist by L.A. Kings Drew Doughty and Fear the Indian Head's "Captain Serious" Jonathan Toews.  Hats off to Latvia Goalie Gudlevkis as he stopped some 56 of 57 Shots....incredible. Habs Net Minder Carey Price was solid with not a lot of work but it will do as Canada advances to face Team USA on Friday February 21st as the Americans will be looking for some 2010 redemption.

360 Degrees...Canada's Big Guns must show up from here on out starting Friday vs Team USA or they will go home with no Medal and that is unacceptable "North of the Border"....
