The Kansas City Royals start the "Battle for the AL Central vs the Minnesota Twins with an impressive 3-1 victory. It was starter Jason Vargas (5-2) throwing six scoreless frames as he allowed just five hits and struck out two.
Royals DH Kendrys Morales was the story as he took Twinkies RHP Phil Hughes deep for a two-run blast and those two runs stood up through the 7th as the Twinkies struck on a Eddie Rosario RBI single. Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer's RBI single in the 8th was just enough for the Royals as they win 3-1.
#BeRoyalKC Captain Save-A-Game Greg Holland gets his 10th save as the Twinkies Hughes falls to 4-6. Now KC moves to 32-23 while Minnesota falls to 33-24 as they are both tied for the AL Central lead as we go to press!
