The Atlanta Braves needed a good outing from starter Alex Wood and gets it. They also needed someone at the dish to put in work in order for the Chop Shop to avoid the sweep and they did that also!

Enter the Southpaw Wood going 7.1 frames scattering five hits and allowing not a single run as he sent 8 Pirate Hitters back to their Pitching Coach for the plan of action at the next AB. A Nick Markakis RBI single in the 5th broke open a scoreless affair as Pirates starter Jeff Locke was on his A-Game as well.

Then in the 7th in a 1-0 Braves lead with Vance Worley on the "Bump" for Locke it was Jace Peterson taking him deeeeep for a solo blast making it 2-0 Chop Shop! Former Buccos Captain Save-A-Game Jason Grilli then came in the game in the 9th only to give up a run and make things interesting on a Jordy Mercer double! He then gets Gregory Polanco swinging for the 3rd and final out.

Braves leave the 'Burgh at 36-40 as they are in the NL East race. The Buccos fall to 42-33 as they try and run down the NL Central leading Red Birds on a 105-57 pace...yes they are that darn good in the 'Lou!
