He was highly coveted coming out of Montverde Academy in Florida where players like Kasey Hill, Dakari Johnson, Joel Embiid, and 2015 consensus #1 overall school boy star Ben Simmons all played their high school ball. Current Montverde lead man Kevin Boyle before coaching at Montverde was at St. Patrick's Academy in N.J. and coached Cavs PG Kyrie Irving and SF Michael Kidd-Gilchrist among others!

After just one season and leaving the hometown Louisville Cardinals oral commitment on the table and going to the Ohio State Buckeyes and Thad Matta D-Russ did max damage on college hoops.  He took over the Big Ten along with fellow Big Ten and 2015 Lottery Lock Frank Kaminsky of the Wisconsin as he was 2nd in the Conference in scoring at 19.3 ppg adding 5.7 rebounds per with 5 helpers per outing.

Measuring at just under 6'4" without scooby doos on Russell has all that an NBA Team needs as a prototype combo guard.  He is lone and sneaky athletic with a high BB IQ to go with superior passing skills and a mid-range and money ball to boot. There is not much D'Angelo Russell can't do. Now we get an argument that Russell is right there with Kentucky's Karl-Anthony Towns for a possible #1 pick.
