The Maryland Fighting Turtles dba Terrapins of Under Armour Hoops was trying to secure at least a #2 seed as that bubble might have been busted. The Michigan Spartans were going to get into the dance but maybe at best a 7-8 seed as that's where a lot of the At-Large Teams sit. Now "Sparty" moving to the Big 10 Championship Game regardless what happens in that game vs the Badgers might get as high as a #5 seed.

Maryland dominated the 1st half not only controlling the all important "Pace" but controlling both ends of the floor dictation what Sparty was trying to do. The "Terps" in the 1st half wiggled their way to a 33-25 lead but it didn't appear like that lead was on solid ground.

Fast forward to the 2nd half and "Sparty" not only took over the game but they took over that all important "Pace: of the game playing on "Izzone" Terms to the tune of a 37-25 2nd half run and a 62-58 shocker over Team Under Armour Hoops.  The Spartans also went high-percentage getting playing a little bit of Nerf Rim to go with all those points in the painted-area.

The numbers were nearly even across the board and it came down to "Sparty" making more plays than the Terps period. Maryland's Freshman PG Melo Trimble had a game-high 22 points on 16 shots as the Terps needed to get All-Big 10 1st Tea performer Dez Wells (10 pts 4-8 FG) heavily involved and they didn't.

The Spartans were led by PG Travis Trice's team-high 20 points with Gary, Indiana Lew Wallace H.S. senior and former McDonald's All-American Branden Dawson netting 17 points and grabbing eight boards. Matt Costello was big for "Izzone" in the paint scoring 10 points as MSU was the aggressor in the 2nd half and will move on.
