Green lead man Tom Izzo put it on his senior C-Captains in Travis Trice and Branden Dawson and they delivered big time. The Spartans run off to the Sweet 16 as they end yet another 30-win season for the ACC juggernaut Virginia Cavaliers.
It was Trice's 23 points (4/8 3pt FG) and timely shot-making mixed in with the Sparty's lock down 24-7-365 Shoe Program "D" as they beat UVA with UVA playing the same way. The Wahoos played just as good as "D" but that offense that can sometimes be at a low stayed at a low as the 'Hoos shot just 29% from the field. Sparty's Dawson added 15 points and nine boards as the underrated Senior WF has been playing out of position all season long doing his job with no complaints.
The 'Hoos Trio of Malcolm Brogdon, London Perrantes, and Justin Anderson combined to score 2 points on 7 for 29 from the field and a disappointing 1 for 14 from the arc. They go the 'Hoos go and they didn't hence the Cavs are headed back to Charlottesville, Virginia with their 'Peepers" set on the 2015-16 season.
Sparty advances to the Sweet 16 to face the winner of Dayton/Oklahoma in the East Region played in Syracuse...
