This was billed as contrasting styles that are as a like as they are different with two lead man that come from Trees you hardly see anymore. Mike Anderson from the great Basketball HOF Nolan Richardson Tree and Roy Williams from the late great Basketball HOF Dean Smith. This one would go almost the full forty but no photo finish.

Behind UNC All-ACC Performer Marcus Paige's team-high 22 points (20 in the 2nd half) and Freshman Justin Jackson coming alive here late when it counts with 16 points the 'Heels held off the "Hogs" 87-78. It was Paige that gave Arkansas all sorts of issues as he hit three money balls in that pivotal 2nd half that gave the 'Heels the edge and led them to close out the "Hogs"!

Arkansas had chances as their was some ill-advised shot selection in the 2nd half coupled with some 21 turnovers a season-high for Arkansas. In tourney time where it's win or go home that cannot happen. Michael Quall's continues his lights out play for "Woo Pig Sooie" with a game-high 27 points and ten boards as he gave UNC like everyone else that play Arkansas fits. Bobby Portis the "Hogs" other big-time weapon added 18 points and fourteen boards but shot just 5 for 15 from the field with four turnovers.

UNC's 46 points in the paint kept Arkansas vaunted press at bay as UNC committed 16 turnovers but only 6 of the live variety I counted. The 'Heels will move onto the Sweet 16 in L.A. and face the winner of Wisconsin/Oregon.
