It was a game of peaks and valley for both as Notre Dame seemingly took control late. That Northeastern Huskies could have folded midway though the 2nd half down down eleven 54-43 but didn't. A 22-13 run by the Huskies cut the deficit to 67-65 and Northeastern could not get a potential game-tying or winning shot off losing 69-65.

It was Fighting Irish "Big" Zach Auguste who was the difference with a game-high 25 points and most of those of the high-percentage variety. Star Irish guard Jerian Grant added 17 points as the Irish had 19 assists on 27 field goals.

The Huskies were right there with a +16 advantage on the glass and +11 on the offensive glass. They just couldn't make that last possession count. Scott Eatherton led the Huskies with 18 points and eight boards with David Walker adding 15 points and seven assists.

Notre Dame advances to the Round of 32 and will play the winner of the #6 Butler and #11 Texas on Saturday March 21st in Pittsburgh.
